Verizon Fios said it is aware of the outages affecting customers on the East and Midwest coasts.

News 12's Nolle Lilley is in the Alert Center, following the newest developments in Verizon's internet service disruption, which has been reported online.

"A software issue caused some Verizon customers in New York and New Jersey to suffer Fios and wireless service interruptions early this morning," Verizon said in a statement.

Our engineers were able to identify and repair the problem, and service was restored around 6:30 a.m. ET.

Verizon Fios is down due to software issues, according to the business. Customers in New York City, Boston, and Madison, Wisconsin reported being impacted.

"Earlier this morning, certain Verizon customers in New York and New Jersey experienced Fios and wireless service outages due to a software fault."

According to DownDetector, the worst-affected cities were Boston, New York City, Washington, DC, and Chicago.
