Huawei has released the Huawei FreeBuds 4i for $159, which includes ANC and 10-hour battery life.

The latest version of Huawei’s AirPods clone, dubbed FreeBuds, has arrived, promising powerful battery life, active noise cancellation, 10 hours of continuous music, and more, as well as a free fitness smartwatch band for those who order by the end of the month.

HUAWEI FreeBuds 4i is the company’s latest TWS (True Wireless Earbuds) that feature ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) and 10 hours of battery life (10 hours of continuous music playback or 6.5 hours of voice calls) when ANC is turned off – all thanks to the new large, high energy density battery.

The oval-shaped and compact design of the HUAWEI FreeBuds 4i is inspired by Iceland’s world-famous black sand beach. If you do not like the color black, a classic Ceramic White option is also available.

According to HUAWEI, the ANC components inside the Freebuds 4i can target environments such as crowded shopping malls, public transportation, and even noisy coworkers. Because most of us, including myself, still work from home, we’d have to wait for some reviews to see how well it performs.

HUAWEI Freebuds 4i provides a great call quality experience while reducing environmental noise interference with three anti-interference technologies. It also has a dual-mic system, beamforming technology, and AI noise reduction technology to ensure you have the best possible experience.

The earbuds are controlled by gesture touches, such as taps and long presses. However, I wish it could be similar to the HUAWEI Freebuds Pro that I reviewed a while ago. I like how, unlike other earbuds, you can’t accidentally trigger an action while pressing the earbuds into your ear canals thanks to the unique pinches mechanism.

The HUAWEI FreeBuds 4i will be available for pre-order on 7 April 2021 from Huawei Experience Store online and in-store at Chatswood, World Square, and Hurstville, MobileCiti, and Amazon for AU$159 RRP. The product will be available in Australia on April 12, 2021.

In addition, if you buy the HUAWEI FreeBuds 4i between April 7 and April 30, 2021, you will receive a free Huawei Band 4 (Black) worth AU$69 RRP.

What is ANC ?

To reduce unwanted background noise, Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) employs a noise-cancelling system. The system is built around microphones that “listen” to sounds both outside and inside the earphone, an ANC chipset that inverts the soundwaves, and a speaker inside the earphone that cancels out the outside sound by neutralizing the soundwaves. It’s a little like taking +2 outside and adding -2 inside to get to zero.
