The future is VR fitness, sweetie! But one big problem is sweat. So fun it’s if you continue to sweat into your eyes during a thorough session and clean a headset properly afterward can be annoying, as fitness games are fun to play. This makes the HTC Vive Air leaked fascinating
Specifically for fitness matches and “optimized for high intensities with a long use” the concept headset, which was leaked through World Design Guide awards (via the Engadget). The headset itself is made of an “innovative lightweight” design with knitted materials, which improve ventilation and quickly dries, according to a brief product descriptor. It also has a fast-release mechanism that allows you to remove the soft washing components.
Yes, please, please. Please. While headsets such as the Oculus Quest 2 are made less loud by removing the cords and lighting the headset, fitness games are still not ideal. The only true solution is whether you have a sports-friendly mask or to wipe your stuff with anti-bacterial wipes and to let them air dry naturally. You have porous foam padding that’s a sweat magnet. No one wants a stinky VR headset, particularly for other, unwrapped games if you intend to use it. It seems like a no-brainer to add a more attractive material that you may also throw into the wash
Since these images are just transmissions, it’s not possible to say how easy that HTC Vive Air headset is. (Though it is a real freak light when calling any product “Air”.) I don’t say that I want to do complete HIIT training with jumps in VR. That sounds dangerous, that sounds dangerous. But, without feelings that are too heavy or bulky, it opens the way for dynamic movements (pops or mountain climbers, perhaps?).
The HTC Vive Air is “specially designed for virtual fitness, optimized for long use for high intensity,” as described in its Design Guide. It uses nipped materials inspired by running skids which are atmospheric and fast-drying during heated exercise for better ventilation. It is also equipped with a fast-release design so that the soft components can be easily washed.
Training and active games such as Beat Sabre were some of VR’s biggest successes (and frankly few). Boxing, dancing, and other fitness programs are especially impressive because they immerse you in a 3D environment in which you can see easier how you move. It also makes practice more fun, and according to one study adds measurable extra pleasure compared to the use of music alone.
To this end, a dedicated VR fitness headset is light, easy to wash, and more capable of tracking. If HTC plans to release the device HTC Vive Air (which appears likely), it isn’t clear whether other fitness equipment will also be introduced. On May 11th and 12th of this year, ViveCon 2021 will likely reveal the new model and details.
